Mechanical Digestion

Mechanical digestion involves the physical breakdown of food. It occurs in the following locations:
  • Mouth - teeth, tongue, and palates








  • Esophagus - peristalsis






  • Stomach - muscular churning action









  • Small Intestine - bile and peristalsis
